Edward Kenway - Side View by Trujin Edward Kenway - Side View by Trujin
One shot was still missing from the submission I posted earlier. It was a side shot. After getting the pictures from my mom I decided to upload this one as well. For some reason I love the back of this costume way more than the front. Some pieces got disaligned because I wore it the whole day and this wasn't a planned or posed picture. It does show some nice details of way the swords are helt to the utility belt and the profile of the swords themselves.

I hope you guys like this as much as I do XD.

Edit: I just noticed that you can see the hidden blades way better at this picture too XD.

Your shading is....impressive. I will find tutorials upon how this process is made and search for new alternatives that will lead to consicunces like thi

am I the only one noticing the dead llama on the ground in front of you? lol Or is it something else? o.O

the costume looks awesome from behind though
But is the scarf supposed to have those frills on it?? :p

The lama or whatever it is are some bags I suppose :p. The frills aren't there in reference pictures. To give it a little personal fling I used a scaref I got from a secondhand store. I thought it would fit the theme :p.

Hmm... well the scarf looks great (and big) anyhow, but I combine frills like that with.... a bit of Middle Eastern :p
Maybe a bit more :pirate: if you cut the scarf in longer frills...like...hmmm...  from the thigh?

Well, in one of the conceptarts Edward is shown with some frills, that's why I chose it =p. Btw, there are two sash ends to look at, one scarf with frills, the other without.

ahh yeah... I see it :)   Looks like there's mini-knives attached to those frills though...or something small and sharp. I've actually only seen some ingame screenshots of him. I'm trying to resist the urge to look at footage and news about the game to prevent myself from exploding of excitement....  :excited:

how much would you want for this amazing costume?
You said it only costs you 90.

Well, I don't do commissions. Never intend to do them either =p.

Anyways, if you would want a serious estimation you would probably faint. Let's see: Avarage 6 hours a day of work, from march 3rd till april 20th = 48 days. Multiply days with hours: 6 x 48 = 288. My boss pays me around 15 euro (won't give a calculation on that number lol). So 288 * 15 = 4320, add the 90 euro's and the price would be an estimated 4410 euro's. Pretty steep if you ask me XD.

Uh, I do have some paper patterns somewhere, but nothing that is worth sharing (apart from the stuff in my scraps).

A rough estimate in euro's:

White fabric: 6
Blue fabric: 28 (specific colour does this to your wardrobe, I had to go to some expansive fabric store instead of using old clothes, stuff from second hand stores or left overs in curtain shops).
Leather: free
Shoes: allready in my wardrobe
"buttons" 6
Pants: allready in wardrobe
Belts: 10
Red fabric: 5
Flintlocks: 9 for 3 of them, fourth allready in possession
Rings: 5
Polymer clay (didn't use the whole package): 2
Paint: 10 (max used, the actual paints I used were 50 euro's but where and are going to be used for other projects (they will probably last for an other 3/4 costumes if needed XD).
Sewing thread: 9 (max)
Shirt: free (old clothes I had lying around.
Metal wire/ropes/etc: free (laying around the house).

So that makes a rough maximum estamate of: 90 (I guess however I spent less than that, it gets tricky calculating since I recycle a lot of stuff, the hidden blades for example are made by old plastic packaging and left over material from Connor).

Haha I know the feeling. I try and recycle things. And what do you mean with your patterns? Are you going to upload them like Connor's?

Also for the actual fabrics, were they normal cottons! I ask because I find it hard to get the 'heaviness' and 'dirty' feeling of it.

Thanks for replying, it means a lot. I struggled with Ezio's costume enough as is...and I personally think I could have done a better job.

Well, I might in the future, but I'm way to busy at the moment. I'll finish up my costumes first before I go and release patterns (I rather invest time in the costumes first).

And no they aren't, the blue is some kind of canvas, the white is curtain fabric. You can get left overs for really cheap =).

And no problem and good luck on your creations, I know the time and effort it takes to make them XD.

Yeah, I've been asking around because I really REALLY want this to look good. I'm gonna be investing my summer into this costume. I stopped in GameStop and was in my Ezio costume and now they want me there for the AC midnight release...and I told them I didn't have an Edward costume...so I now have pressure to finish it quickly. :(

But canvas and curtain fabric? Got it. I'll find some leather somewhere...I must ask, in your opinion, which was more challenging, Connor's or Edward's?

Connor was WAY more challenging. It had some stupid physics to fix, it had difficult patterning to do, all kinds of details that took a lot of time to make look decent and I still haven't fininished it to my liking.

Edward on the other hand (offcourse with the experience I had from Connor) only took me 1,5 months to build. Could use the brotherhood patterns I allready had and was way easier to make.

...not to your liking? Please, it's AMAZING! I love it as is! I've just heard Connor's outfit is challenging hence why I wasn't sure if I'd even make one or not.

Also, brotherhood pattern? Is it very similar to Edward's? And I doubt you are, but do you take commissions? I know a lot don't, but it can't hurt to ask?

Well there are just tons of details I still have to fix before I can call it done =p.

The basic shape of the tunic is the same (including length). So it was easy to retrace that and adjust some details. Way better than designing a frock coat from scratch XD.

And sorry I don't do commissions (except little ones for real life friends). I just don't have the time to do it =(.
